Frequently Asked Questions & Office Policies

Still have questions? Please read the FAQ about my practice and office policies below for more information.  Contact me if you want to discuss anything else in detail-I'm happy to answer all your questions!

How to Book

Refer to my Services page and Rates & Hours page to learn about the types of bodywork sessions that I provide and the rates for each service. I offer a 1 hr. intro. session for clients who want to get to know me and my work at a reasonable price. For on-going clients I recommend booking

90 min. for most sessions.   Call, text or email to schedule:

503-936-5340 or amy@riverrock-wellness.com

COVID Policies

Please see my COVID Policy page for full information, but the basics are that I will continue to always be wearing a mask as I have a somewhat compromised immune system and have other high risk clients, so I’m erring on the side of keeping everyone safe.  I am no longer requiring that my clients wear masks unless they want to and I have masks available on hand Please reschedule your appointment if you have been sick with any kind of cold/flu or suspect you are sick/are in within 10 days of having COVID.

How to Prepare for Your Session

Please allow a few minutes for parking and using the restroom before your appointment begins.  When you get to the office, walk in through the white door to our cozy waiting room downstairs, where I will come to meet you.  You are also welcome to use the bathroom at the top of the stairs to your right.  I'll have good quality filtered water for you in the treatment room.  I don't recommend drinking anything caffeinated right before a session, but I DO recommend drinking several glasses of water after a session to help flush out any toxins released.  if possible, schedule your bodywork session on a day where you don't immediately have to go back to work or have an event to give you some time to relax & integrate the work.

What to Wear to an Appointment

What you wear will depend on what type of session you schedule and I'll remind you when you book your session. However, for all appointments, please remove jewelry and anything in your hair, if possible, so I can do massage/access points on your scalp.  For massage appointments, we'll do an intake and then I'll leave the room and allow you to undress as far as you are comfortable.  You'll get under the covers on the massage table and will stay covered except for the areas I'm currrently working on, then you will be re-draped.  Your modesty is always preserved and you can always tell me if you have areas you'd like to avoid for your comfort level.

For energy work-only sessions, you can remain fully clothed, though it is best to wear, loose, comfortable clothing that I can pull up to access acupuncture points up your elbows and knees.  If you are doing a "combo" session of half massage/half energy work, I will usually do your intake and basic "Energy Checks" while you are clothed, then let you get undressed for the work on the table.

What If I'm Late to My Appointment

If you arrive late to your appointment I'll do my best to accommodate you IF time allows.  However, I may have another client directly after yours, and in this case your session will only be as long as the original appointment time and the full fee will be charged for your session.

Cancellation Policy

Your appointment time is reserved especially for you.  Since time is not replaceable, I require a minimum of 24-48 hrs. notice when rescheduling or cancelling your appointment. You are always welcome to try to find someone to fill in your slot if you can't give that much notice.  Please note that this policy does not apply if you are sick the day of appointment or have tested positive/suspect you have COVID.  Otherwise, without notice, you will be charged the full fee for your session.

Phones & Quiet Entry

Please silence your phones before coming into the office and kindly step outside if you need to make a phone call while waiting.  We often have sessions going on both treatment rooms upstairs and talking loudly while coming and going and in the waiting room can be disruptive to clients in session.  Thanks!

Parking

Parking is available to clients directly in front of the building on Glisan St. and there is almost always a free spot. We are on the corner of 70th Ave, so you can also park on the street on 70th or there are a few parking spots in our driveway behind the building and to the left of the garage. Just keep in mind that the parking space directly in front of the garage is reserved for office staff and is marked as such.

Accessiblity

Our building is not accessible to those who cannot use stairs. We have several steps up to the front porch and then a full set of stairs to the second floor where the treatment rooms are located.  Please contact me if you would like to make other arrangements for a session that potentially can accommodate accessibility issues.

Payments & Discounts

Payment is due at the time of service and I accept cash, check or credit card.  Checks should be made out to River Rock Wellness and cards are processed through Square.  I am not currently accepting online payments or through Venmo, PayPal, etc.

Gratuity

Clients often ask about whether gratuity is expected for a bodywork session.  I price my sessions so I’m fairly compensated for my time and do not expect gratuity.  If you are getting a massage or other bodywork session at a spa or resort, a gratutity is expected as those practitioners are only earning an hourly wage and are considered to be in the service industry.  However, I will not turn down a tip if you are particularly pleased with your session and would like to offer one as an extra thanks. But please do not feel you ever have to include gratuitiy or include it every time; it can be done as a once in a while special thanks!

Insurance Billing

While I do not bill health insurance directly, I am happy to provide an itemized receipt with my tax ID number that some of you can submit to your insurance for reimbursement or as part of a health savings account.  Please let me know at your appointment if you would like a receipt and I will email/mail a copy to you.

Gift Certificates

Gift certificates are available to purchase at regular prices year round and for any length of session.  Special discounts on them are offered a few times a year including the holidays (check my News page for announcements). You can purchase them in person at the office or ask me to mail one to you and/or directly to the recipient. They are non-redeemable, non-exchangeable, cannot be used for yourself and expire within 12 months of purchase. However, you can request an extended date if needed. Recipients are welcome to combine Gift Certificates if they have more than one.

Pregnancy

I really enjoy working on my pregnant clients. Pregnancy is hard work and I’m happy to work as deep as you want, keeping all safety considerations in mind. In the later months of your pregnancy, I will work on you side lying, letting you hug a big body pillow, and I use other pillows to make sure you are as comfortable as possible.  While pregnancy massage is not my specific specialty, I have taken continuing ed in the technique and love to keep working with my regular clients throughout their pregnancies.
